GENESI is a project based on extensive prototyping and experimental validation of the developed technologies. Therefore, experimental activities are adriving force for the project. Based on exploitation commitments and exploitation interests from the end-users involved in the project we have identified a set of structural health monitoring application scenarios well representing the different classes of applications which could benefit from GENESI technology and which have a strong exploitation potential for the project. In particular the monitoring of a metro tunnel (Roma Metro B1) and a large suspension bridge (Pont de la Poya, Fribourg) during construction and during their operation lifetime have been identified as reference application scenarios for testing the GENESI system. These sites offer an enormous variety of testing possibilities for solutions proposed by the GENESI project under a wide range of operating conditions.
